QBNR Guide-A-Ride Inserts
Providing stop-specific information at all bus stops affected by the Queens Bus Network Redesign
2025
As part of the Queens Bus Network Redesign (QBNR), the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) launched an extensive effort to create unique Guide-A-Ride (GAR) inserts for the 5,000+ bus stops affected by the new network. Installed in the display panels mounted on bus stop poles, these inserts provided a summary of changes coming to the route and a QR code to the project website to help riders quickly get “in the know” and navigate the redesigned network with confidence. This boroughwide campaign was a crucial effort to reach riders directly at the stop level by providing clear, stop-specific information where they already interact with the system, ensuring that every bus rider—whether or not they had followed the outreach and planning process—had access to information about the new routes. Together, these inserts formed one of the most comprehensive communicaation efforts in MTA’s history, designed to minimize confusion, enhance wayfinding, and support a smooth transition to the new Queens bus system.
