QBNR Route Profiles
Providing context for the Queens Bus Network Redesign changes
2025
The route profiles developed as part of the Queens Bus Network Redesign (QBNR) serve as a key tool for communicating how each proposed route functions within the broader network. Designed to be clear, consistent, and data-driven, the profiles provide an at-a-glance overview of each route’s structure, purpose, and key service characteristics. They summarize essential information such as span, frequency, and major connections, while also highlighting design rationales, such as how the route improves access to transit hubs, simplifies travel patterns, or strengthens crosstown connectivity. By pairing quantitative data with accessible visualizations and concise narrative explanations, the route profiles help riders, stakeholders, and decision-makers understand not only what is changing, but why. Collectively, they translate the technical planning process into a clear and transparent framework for how the redesigned network better serves the diverse travel needs of Queens riders.
